City facilities will be closed in observance of the Christmas holidays. There will not be curbside collection of rubbish on these days. Service will resume on your next regular collection day following the holidays. Garbage should not be placed out for pick up earlier than 6 p.m. on the evening before the scheduled collection day. The Winter Scholastic Book Fair, sponsored by the Friends of the DPPL, is scheduled for December 5 - December 10 in the library's meeting room during normal business hours. Enjoy shopping and pick up some holiday gifts and stocking stuffers!
Each year the profits made by Scholastic Book Fairs go back into the community through the purchase of paperback books. These books are given as prizes during the Summer Reading Program. Come shop for great books and sign up for our Summer Reading Program!
Are you in an honor society? Do you need extra volunteer hours/opportunities? We need your help! Tell us what you would like to see for Teens at our Library. Be part of the Library's teen programming, make suggestions for the Teen Collection, and weigh in on how we will redecorate the Teen Zone (from painting to lighting we are looking for a change)! Teens are invited to join in every month and get creative! During the first Wednesday of the month Teens have the opportunity to express themselves through a variety of projects. Activities may include painting, sculpting, and other crafts! Each session will start at 4:15pm and require preregistration to attend. There is no fee involved and any 12-18 year olds still in school is eligible to sign up! Details for the project of the month will be available on our Facebook page about two weeks before each program date once the registration has begun. Stories and activities are designed to encourage a love for books and language, increase attention spans and develop basic social skills. Parents/caregivers are required to stay with the toddler and encourage them to participate in the program.
Preschool Storytime is recommended for children 3 1/2 - 6 years old. Storytime incorporates books, fingerplays, songs, and activities to promote interest in reading and lifelong learning. Children listen to stories and participate in group activities.
Join us the second Tuesday of every month as we relive some of our favorite classic films of the 20th century! The film will begin at 10:30 a.m. and popcorn and punch will be available.
The selected movie title will be posted on Facebook the week before, but you may also contact the library or stop by to see movie titles and suggested age ratings.
The Mysteries & More Book Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month to discuss great books from a variety of genres. Watch the Library's Facebook page for more details about the upcoming meeting. We will be picking future titles for the book group at upcoming meetings. If you have a title that you think would make a great discussion book, bring it to our next meeting. This program runs once every month, on the second Wednesday between 10:30am-12:30pm for anyone over the age of 18 to hang out and color! Light refreshments such as tea will be provided and calming music played to help create a relaxing atmosphere.

A special Winter Holiday storytime is planned for December 15th @ 10:15 a.m. with songs, stories, and a special guest. Goodie bags and a craft will be available. This storytime will hold plenty of fun, stories, and photo opportunities, so don't forget your camera!
Gamers welcome! Every first and third Thursday of the month Teens are urged to stop by enjoy some snacks, and play some games! All 12 to 18 year olds currently enrolled in school are invited to hang out and play Cards Against Humanity: Family Edition, One Night Werewolf and more! Participants have the option to bring their own age appropriate games to share. Games can not have higher than a T for teen rating. Call us at 281-478-7208 ahead of time to approve the title.

We are very excited about Pickleball tournaments at the Earl Dunn Gym! It is open to everyone 18 and up it will be mixed doubles division. If you do not have a partner, we will pair you with someone. Come on out and enjoy Pickleball.
